On a sunny 70 degree day at the CSI Softball Complex the Dolphins of Staten Island were able to take both CUNYAC games from Baruch College. CSI took care of things in game one in five innings, winning 11-1. Then in game two it took the Dolphins until the sixth inning to finish off the Bearcats 12-4. With the win the Dolphins improve to, 14-11, overall and, 10-0, in the CUNYAC while the Bearcats fell to, 3-15, overall and, 3-9, in the CUNYAC.

Jacqueline Cautela started on the mound for the Dolphins this afternoon and only gave up one run on three hits and no errors. The Dolphins had a huge second and third inning which really sealed the deal for Staten Island. Chyanne Gilliam started it off for the Dolphins in the second inning with Maxine Jasko on first base, Gilliam hit a triple to left field who was then driven home by Cautela.

The Bearcats would commit two costly errors in the third inning which allowed Danielle Locke to score from second when the second basement tried to throw out Jasko at first which allowed her to advance to second. Following that play Alyssa Setteducato laid down a bunt which the pitcher over threw the first baseman which moved Jasko to third and put Setteducato on first. Gilliam who had an outstanding game hit a double to left field to drive both runs in. Had Gilliam hit a home run in this game she would have completed a cycle.

CSI would go on to score just one more run in the fourth and didn’t allow any runs to prevent the mercy rule which ended the game in four and a half innings in which the Dolphins had 14 hits and where the Bearcats committed five errors.

Victoria Procopio would pitch in game two for the Dolphins and would allow eight hits and four runs in the game.

CSI started game two off on the slow side as they only managed to score two runs in two innings.

They were however able to pick it up in the third inning where they scored four runs. Both Cautela and Brittany Smith were walked which brought Stefanie Solari to the plate and was able to get on first and bring in Cautela. Solari and Smith both advanced on a passed ball then Christina Tufano came up to bat and hit a two RBI triple into the right field gap.

In the sixth, the Bearcats had their rally caps on as they were able to score four runs and make the score 4-7. The Dolphins quickly ended that as they would go on to score five runs to end the game in six innings as Locke was able to hit the game ending triple which scored Tufano from first base.

CSI is back in action on Monday the 21st as they will travel to Patchogue, NY to take on St. Joseph’s-LI in a doubleheader at 5:00pm.
