The College of Staten Island softball team will play in their first home game of the season today at 4:30 pm against Old Westbury.

The Dolphins have not played a game since March 13, which was their spring training trip as every game has be rescheduled since then due to poor field conditions and weather related issues.  Staten Island did leave their spring training trip on a good note and were able to defeat Loras College 8-0. Jacqueline Cautela went 3-for-3 in that game with an RBI and one run while Samantha Bowbliss went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

The Dolphins own a 6-5 all-time record over the Panthers and in their last meeting they were both able to get a win.  Staten Island has won two of the last five meetings.  CSI plays well against the Panthers at home and are 4-2 all time at the CSI Softball Complex and will look to improve upon that record tonight.

The Panthers played some strong opponents on their spring training trip which included the then ranked #11 Virginia Wesleyan College twice in which they lost 8-0 in both games. Old Westbury has fallen upon the same hardships as Staten Island and haven’t played a game since March 14, and currently sits in fifth place in the Skyline Conference. The Panthers are currently on a five game losing skid and will hope to break that tonight.
