The College of Staten Island women’s volleyball team will serve up the 2015 season today, travelling to take on Kean University in non-conference play in Union, NJ, at 4:30pm.  CSI will be looking to improve on an 11-14 campaign a year ago under second year head coach Juan Lopez.  Kean finished 17-18 a year ago.

Players To Watch (CSI):  CSI returns two of its top three offensive players in Selma Kolenovic (121 kills) and Siobhan Granich (98 kills).  Brittany Minondo led the team in assists with 453, and expects to be the team’s primary setter again in 2015..
Players to Watch (KU): Cassie Hernandez led Kean with 386 kills a year ago and expects to be a disruptive force in the middle.  Lisa DeGroot tallied up over 400 digs a year ago and is a specialist on the back line.
News and Notes:  Today marks the first meeting between the two sides since 2010.  Kean has won all three meetings in the series, including two by a 3-0 score.  CSI took a set against Kean back in 2009 in a 3-1 loss.  CSI had lost 12-straight season openers before taking their opener last year over Yeshiva.
