Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island women’s basketball team won their third straight tonight when they defeated Baruch College, 76-32, at The Tank. Staten Island improved to 16-3, 10-1 while the Bearcats dropped to 4-11, 4-6. The win also marks the third straight victory over the Bearcats.

The Dolphins came into tonight’s game confident after defeating the Bearcats 76-46 earlier in the season and once again put on a show with a 44-point win. Samantha Flecker put the Dolphins up 6-4 with a layup which gave the Dolphins the lead for good. An 8-0 run that put the Dolphins up 20-8 by the end of the first quarter was all they needed to keep the Bearcats from clawing back into the game.

Christina Pasaturo found herself wide open from behind the arc quite often in tonight’s contest as she finished the game with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor. Diana Todaro had a career night, tallying her second double-double of the year with 14 points and 11 rebounds, both of which were career highs. Todaro was able to get inside and clean the glass and create second-chance opportunities.

As a team, Staten Island was dominant on the glass, outrebounding the Bearcats 50-31 and causing 21 turnovers.

Rosa Perone also came in and gave solid minutes, tallying eight points and six rebounds in 13 minutes of action. By the time the fourth quarter had come around the Dolphins held a 42-point lead after Daniela Zirpolo drained a jumper. Lina Bitar was able to get into the action when she converted a layup.

Elena Demontreux finished the game with a pair of free throws to hand the Dolphins the win.

The Dolphins will return to action on Saturday, January 27 when they host York College at The Tank.
