The College of Staten Island is a proud participant in the Third Annual Staten Island African Heritage Parade and Festival: A Celebration of African American, African, and Caribbean Cultures on Saturday, Sept. 19.  The assembly begins at 9:00am on Center St. off of Bay St. in St. George, Staten Island. The parade procession will begin at 11:00am.  Floats, bands, and parade pageantry will proceed from Borough Hall onto Bay St. ending at Tappen Park where the festival is being held.

The goal of the Third Annual Staten Island African Heritage Parade is to increase awareness of and celebrate the varying positive cultural aspects of people of African descent who call Staten Island home.

CSI is looking for faculty, staff and students to represent CSI as we march in the parade to support and celebrate Staten Island’s rich and historical African American, African, and Caribbean history.  Anyone interested in participating/marching in the parade can sign up on Thursday, Sept. 10 on Campus Center (Building 1C) Plaza from noon to 4:00pm.

In addition, you are welcome to register in person at the CSI Office of Student Life (Building 1C, Room 201) or via email at studentlife@mail.csi.cuny.edu.  Free t-shirts will be given to the first 100 registrants on the day of the parade.  If you have any additional questions, please contact the Office of Student Life at 718.982.3088.

Spread the word.  Join us for a meaningful and purposeful Saturday walk and have fun while helping to support and celebrate Staten Island’s rich and historical African American, African, Caribbean, and American history.
