College of Staten Island faculty, staff, and students will be hosting a food collection drive at local shopping centers for the Project Hospitality Food Pantry on Staten Island this Saturday, February 20, from 10:00am to 2:30pm. As people walk into the supermarkets, they will be handed a flier by a volunteer that will describe the types of food needed for the pantry. As people leave, the volunteers will collect the non-perishable food donations.
“This is a great way to get involved in the community and to be of service to an organization that serves the hungry and homeless in our community,” said Carol Brower, Director of Student Life for the College. “Food pantries struggle on a daily basis to meet the growing needs of the hungry individuals and families that live in our community,” Brower added.
CSI volunteers will be at the following locations: Super Stop and Shop (2795 Richmond Avenue); Stop and Shop (2754 Hylan Boulevard); Shop Rite (2424 Hylan Boulevard); Shop Rite (985 Richmond Avenue); and Key Food (450 Forest Avenue). Volunteers will first gather at the College at 9:00am in the Campus Center Rotunda to get instructions and assignments.
“The College is proud to be part of a community service project that lends a hand to our struggling neighbors,” Brower noted.
