The College was recently notified by the Department of Transportation (DOT) Ferry Bus Terminal Operations that effective Monday May 10, 2010 the first phase of construction will begin on the North Terminal Ramp, the primary drop-off and pick-up point for the CSI Ferry Bus Shuttle Service.

Representatives from CSI, Wagner College, and St. John’s University attended a meeting with the Department of Transportation on Wednesday, May 5 to discuss the three-and-a-half year construction project at the St. George Terminal, as well as the last-minute notification of the start date of the project, and the impact on the shuttle services. CSI requested that the construction be delayed a week to allow ample notification to our students, faculty, and staff who ride the shuttle. However, the DOT informed the College that, after consideration, they would not delay the start of the project.

The start of construction will impact and cause service disruptions for both the pick-up and drop-off of passengers to and from the terminal. The DOT has indicated that for at least the first week they will have ferry staff directing passengers to the temporary CSI Shuttle bus stop, and that new signage will be posted.

In order to mitigate the potential delays on the three-bus schedule, we have altered the timetable to provide an earlier bus at the terminal. The College is doing its best to meet the needs of our shuttle riders, and we will continue to provide an efficient, dependable, and free service. However, we urge everyone to allow for additional travel time (ten to 15 minutes) during this construction project.
