I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Paulette Brower-Garrett as Director of Academic Advisement. Ms. Brower-Garrett was selected from among an impressive field of candidates resulting from a national search and will begin service on Thursday, July 1, 2010.
Ms. Brower-Garrett has considerable experience as an administrator in higher education and most recently held the position of Director of Counseling at Union County College in New Jersey. Prior to that, she served in various positions in academic advisement at Passaic County Community College and William Paterson University. Ms. Brower-Garrett received an MBA in Finance and an MA in Psychology from William Paterson University. She also holds an MS in Counseling from Seton Hall University.
I would like to extend sincere thanks to Ms. Suzy Shepardson who served in this position since August 2008. Her energetic leadership and creativity advanced the Advisement Office and garnered the respect of the campus community. Her dedication and commitment are appreciated both by me and the other members of the Enrollment Management team.
I would like to thank Professor Ralf Peetz and Ms. Linda Sharib, Co–Chairs of the search, and the rest of the committee members for their diligence and efforts.
The College of Staten Island is fortunate to welcome Ms. Brower-Garrett as Director of Academic Advisement. I am confident that the College will benefit from her leadership and vision.
