I hope that you are safe and secure in the aftermath of one of the most devastating storms to impact the East Coast.

It is during times like these that we are reminded that CSI is a family, and we collectively share in the grief of our faculty, staff, and students. I know that many members of our College community have experienced tremendous personal loss due to Hurricane Sandy. Bonnie and I express to you our deepest and most profound sympathies.

As New Yorkers, we have a unique understanding of the importance of bringing the greatest city in the world back to operation as soon as possible. As a College, we are actively exploring the assistance we can provide, such as grief counseling, volunteerism, and other support services.  I have instructed the College’s Vice Presidents to continue issuing updates concerning transportation, communication, academic matters, and other important information related to the operation of the College. Please continue to access www.csi.cuny.edu, facebook.com/collegeofstatenisland, and your CSI email to view these updates.

It is often said that the most trying and difficult circumstances bring out the very best in people, and certainly this has been the case with our dedicated staff. I want to thank our IT, Facilities, and Public Safety personnel who have been working around the clock to ensure our safety during the resumption of campus operations.

I thank you for your patience. As we come together and recover from these devastating events, let us all continue to bring out the best in each other and reach out to help those who may still be in need.
