Women’s volleyball fell to Rutgers-Newark in a 3-1 finish on Saturday afternoon in Newark, New Jersey. The Scarlet Raiders took the first two games by scores of 25-14 and 25-11 followed by the Dolphins winning set three for a 25-22 with the final set won by Rutgers, 25-9. CSI is now 1-9 overall while the Scarlet Raiders extended to a 6-10 record.
 
Set one started out competitive as the score was tied twice. Joanna Tepedino led all players in kills with four but Rutgers’ 12 kills helped with the win.
 
The Scarlet Raiders held the leading score for the entire second set tallying 11 kills and six service aces.
 
The Dolphins came back to life in set three after taking back the lead from a 3 point deficit. A kill by Kaitlyn Flynn tied the game at 6. From there Rutgers tried to rally back but CSI kept the lead.
 
Despite taking the lead to start the set off a Tepedino kill, the Scarlet Raiders came on strong going on 7-0 streak to finish the game.
 
Tepedino finished with a season and game-high 15 kills along with 8 digs. Danielle Ponsiglione had 14 assists along with a team and game high 10 digs. Flynn had six assists while Samantha Fink added 8 digs.
 
Stephanie Touzan had 12 kills and four digs for the Scarlet raiders while Rachel Witt added eleven.
 
The Dolphins will be back in action on Monday, October 4 as they travel for a 7:00 pm game against Mount St. Vincent.
