College of Staten Island Men’s Swimming has conquered the CUNYAC Swimmer of the Week honors since the season’s start three weeks ago, this week Nikolay Shevchenko takes the honor while freshman Danila Novikov takes his second Rookie honor this season.
 
Shevchenko’s times against SUNY-Maritime earned him the title despite the team’s loss to the college last Tuesday evening. The senior from Russia had three first place finishes including a relay win. In the 200 yard Freestyle he completed with a time of 1:47.51 and in the 500 Yard Freestyle he finished with a time of 4:50.04, 43 seconds faster then the second place winner. Alongside the strong team of Vlad Romanov, Pavel Buyanov and Novikov, the relay squad tagged in a total time of 1:35.98 in the 200 Yard Medley Relay for a golden finish.
 
Novikov, also from Russia, finished the competitive 50 Yard Freestyle event with a time of 22.11. In the 100 Yard Backstroke he tapped in with a time of 54.25, the only swimmer to swim that even under one minute.
 
The Dolphins swimming team is back in action on December 8, against Brooklyn College at 6:00 pm.
