The College of Staten Island men’s soccer team fell to Wisconsin-Platteville yesterday in their home and season opener, and will now look to rebound less than 24 hours later as they get set to take on St. Joseph’s College of Brooklyn to conclude the CSI Fall Classic at the CSI Soccer Complex.

CSI vs. ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE (BK) AT-A-GLANCE
Matchup:  CSI (0-1) vs. St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) (0-1)
Where: College of Staten Island, Staten Island, NY
All-Time Series:  SJC leads 1-0
Players to Watch (CSI):  The Dolphins could not muster up much offense yesterday against Platteville, as they yielded just two shots, both on goal by Ryan Layman in the first half and another by Dardan Nika in the second.  CSI’s back line did perform well despite allowing two goals.  Freshmen Wilson Quintero and Miguel Morales were nice anchors, lending support to Erick Conde and keeper Balint Barabas, who made three saves
Players to Watch (SJC-BK): The Bears were also defeated yesterday, falling on a late goal to New Jersey City University, 1-0.  They too were stymied on offense, getting off only seven shots with none on goal.  Cesar Oviedo will also sit this contest out as he picked up a yellow and red card in yesterday’s game and will serve suspension.  Kenneth Garcia was a play maker in the front, getting off three shots.
News and Notes:  This is the first meeting between the two schools since 2004, when SJC took a lopsided, 5-2, win over the Dolphins.  CSI finished 9-8-2 that season.  This is the first-ever meeting between the two teams on Staten Island.  The Bears finished last season at 7-11, but were a respectable 6-5 on the road a year ago.  Today is their first true road contest.  Five out of the last six SJC losses have been by shutout, meanwhile the Dolphins were shutout yesterday for only the second time in the last seven games dating back to last season.  Their total of just two shots taken was the lowest in the last 8 games, matching their lowest last season as well against Stevens Tech.
