As you all know, Japan was devastated by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami in March. Now Japan has raised the severity of their nuclear crisis to that of Chernobyl. In response to this tragedy, the International Affairs Committee of the CSI Student Government has decided to host a Benefit Concert for Japan. This event will take place on Friday, April 29 in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) Williamson Theatre from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
We are thrilled to announce that world-class pianist Taka Kigawa and CSI alumni and countertenor Masafumi Toyoda will be performing. Admission to this concert is free, however we are suggesting that attendees make a donation of a minimum of $5 per person. One-hundred percent of the funds raised will be donated to the Japan Society’s Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. If you can’t attend this event, but wish to make a donation you can write a check to either the CSI Association and put “donation to Japan Earthquake Relief Fund” in the memo line or make your check out directly to “Japan Society Earthquake Relief Fund”. Checks can be mailed to The College of Staten Island Student Government, 2800 Victory Boulevard, Building 1C, Room 207, Staten Island, NY 10314. If you have any questions please call the Student Government Office at 718.982.3083.
This event is open to the public so please share this information with friends and family.
Thank you to the CSI community, the Center for the Arts, and the Auxiliary Services Corporation for their support.
