The College of Staten Island should be proud of its initial participation in the national Recyclemania contest. We were able to achieve a first-place standing for several weeks during the ten-week period of the contest. At the end, CSI finished sixth nationally.
All in all, the 288 colleges that participated in this year’s Recyclemania recycled or composted 91 million pounds of material. This prevented the release of nearly 270 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2E) into the environment.
We all win because of everyone’s participation. Access this link for the results of the Grand Championship.
The Recylemania contest starts every year in mid-January. We’ll send a reminder to everyone before the end of the fall 2011 semester.
