L-R: Dr. Roberta Vogel, CSI President Dr. Tomas D. Morales, Dr. Irene Deitch, and Evy Morales

The spirit of dialogue and shared governance was in the air recently as CSI President Dr. Tomás D. Morales and his wife Evy recently hosted a unique faculty reception at their residence, as members of the College Council, the Academy of Retired Professors, and new CSI faculty had the chance to mingle and exchange ideas.

Commenting on the importance of engaging all faculty in the shared governance process, Dr. Morales said, “The key to our planning and our execution has been, and will continue to be, shared governance.  The heart of shared governance is openness, communication, and inclusiveness. Openness ensures that all that is done can be seen by all who care about this institution. Communication ensures that all who care about this institution can be heard. Inclusiveness ensures that all voices are heard. I have worked diligently to create such a culture.”

Besides the wide variety of faculty and faculty emeriti on hand, the event was also attended by CUNY Trustee and alumna Kay Pesile, ARP Co-Chair Irene Deitch, and a number of CSI administrators.
