Men’s basketball captured a 104-84 victory over John Jay College on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins stretch their undefeated CUNYAC lead to 6-0 while the Bloodhounds fall to a 1-5 conference record.

The Dolphins began with a small lead before going on a 15-2 run to really pull away for a 17 point lead with the help of two Jordan Young layups. The bloodhounds would close the gap to 10 behind Jerome Alexander’s three baskets with five minutes to go in the half. CSI answered back from there as Javon Cox hit back-to-back layups along with Dale Taranto’s three point goal to take their largest lead of the half of 19 with 2 minutes left on the clock. Five points by Bloodhounds’ Justin Alleyne and a three by Isiah Holman cut the deficit to 13 into the locker room.

A quick 5-0 run by John Jay helped start the second half before a Bloochy Magloire layup and three pointer extended the Dolphins to a 16 point lead. Not backing down a 9-1 run in two minutes time that included two three’s by Kris Owens put the Bloodhounds’ within single digits. CSI extended their lead again to 67-53, finished by a made free throw by Magloire after a technical foul on the Bloodhounds head coach Otis Fenn. A long 17-2 run by CSI, including 11 points by T.J. Tibbs, put them at their best lead of 25 with six minutes remaining. From there, CSI kept the high lead allowing the Bloodhounds to come as close as 20.

The Dolphins scored 34 points in the paint to John Jay’s 18. CSI was led by Young’s game-high 31 points and game-high 20 rebounds. Magloire totaled 19 points while Cox added 15 rebounds and 14 points. Tibbs totaled 15 points with eight assists.
