College of Staten Island Interim President Dr. William J. Fritz has named Dr. Susan Holak as the Interim Founding Dean of the College’s new School of Business.
Dr. Holak has earned a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was named to Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honorary society. She received her MPhil and PhD degrees in Business from Columbia University.
Dr. Holak has been a member of the College of Staten Island faculty since 1992, when she was appointed as Associate Professor of Marketing in the Department of Business. She was promoted to Full Professor in 1998 and has served in various campus leadership positions, such as Director of the Macaulay Honors College of CUNY at CSI and as Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness from 2007 to 2013. In that role, she was responsible for coordinating and composing the College’s annual Performance Management Process reports for CUNY, served as the campus Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Middle States Commission, and recently directed the College’s successful decennial Middle States reaccreditation process. Dr. Holak also held leadership roles in two of the College’s strategic planning initiatives, chaired the launch of the Faculty Center for Professional Development, and collaborated with the Office of Institutional Advancement and External Relations on institutional branding, marketing, and outreach initiatives.
As Professor of Marketing, Dr. Holak’s research interests include new product development, consumer behavior, and cross-cultural marketing. Her publications appear in prestigious marketing and business journals, including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and Advances in Consumer Research.
