The CSI Career and Scholarship Center would like to inform the College community about two scholarship opportunities for women:

Women’s Forum Education Award

Since 1987, the Women’s Forum Education Fund has provided awards to help mature women pursue educational goals and enhance their capacities to provide leadership and supportive service to their communities and beyond.  The Award recognizes extraordinary and often heroic effort in overcoming adversity and the most daunting odds in order to achieve one’s educational goals. Applicants must demonstrate noteworthy promise of resilience in the face of challenges, as well as a commitment to helping others.

The Fund grants awards of $10,000 each to women 35 and older who have faced adversity, and now, after an interruption in their education, have resumed the pursuit of their first Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. Applicants must have strong academic records, reside in NYC, and have earned at least 12 credits.

Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Award

The Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Award gives women the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. Eligible applicants are women who are enrolled in an undergraduate-degree program, have financial need, have a strong academic record, and provide the primary financial support for their families, including children, spouse, siblings, and/or parents. Soroptimist seeks to aid women who have faced extreme economic and personal hardships. Award amounts range from $3,000 to $10,000.

The deadline for both awards is Sunday, Dec. 1. Students who are interested in applying may contact Michele Galati in the Career and Scholarship Center (Building 1A, Room 105) at michele.galati@csi.cuny.edu or 718.982.2301.
