It’s a great day to be outdoors, and the College of Staten Island men’s baseball and men’s tennis teams will celebrate by doing just that for a pair of Thursday afternoon contests. The CSI men’s tennis team will keep their active week going with their third contest in four days, this time hosting Ramapo College at 4pm in a non-conference contest at the CSI Tennis Center. The CSI men’s baseball squadron is on the road, taking on Lehman College in a lone conference test at South Field in the Bronx. The game is a make-up from the rained-out contest this past Saturday afternoon.
CSI men’s tennis is 2-4 this season, and have split their two other tests this week, falling to Hunter College and then bouncing back for a 9-0 win over Lehman College on Tuesday. Ramapo runs in with a 3-3 overall mark this year, having recently beaten John Jay College, 9-0, this week. CSI got through John Jay earlier this year as well, by an 8-1 count. In the latest meeting between the two sides, CSI was able to score a 5-4 win last year in Mahwah, NJ.
After rolling to four-straight wins, CSI has since dropped two straight, falling to Kean on Tuesday before dropping a walk-off, 6-5, yesterday afternoon against CCNY. CSI is hoping to get back on track against Lehman, who they defeated 8-2 in game one of a doubleheader this past Saturday before the second game got washed out. Lehman is a dismal 1-11 this season, and are mired in a 9-game losing skid. The Lightning should be fresh today though, having been idle since that Saturday loss to CSI. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm.
