A day after the College of Staten Island women’s volleyball team took up for a great cause in the Walk4 movement, the netters will be at it again on Monday, donning pink for their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day. CSI will take on Baruch College at 10am on Columbus Day, and will then pick up again at 6:00pm for a date with Medgar Evers College. It will be part of an eventful day at CSI, where each CUNYAC school will be on hand to play two games, with 9 games to be played in total.
The Side Out Foundation has made Breast Cancer Awareness a national movement with its annual Dig Pink initiative each October, and hundreds of schools follow suit each year. CSI is no exception, as each year the ladies don pink apparel is support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The issue has a special significance at CSI, as the College houses its own Staten Island Breast Cancer Research Initiative, and money raised during the day will go to benefit the cause. More than anything, the day is all about raising awareness, which in turn can save thousands of lives each year.
