The College of Staten Island men’s volleyball team made history today, scoring its first win in program history in a five-set marathon match against City College of New York as part of CUNYAC All-Day Play at John Jay College.  CSI fell to Baruch College earlier in the afternoon, 3-0, but rebounded nicely for a 3-2 win over the Beavers, extending their record to 1-4 overall, and 1-1 in CUNYAC play.

CSI fell to Baruch College in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-6, and 25-10, but then got a break to prepare for CCNY and it served the Dolphins well.  CSI got off to a fast start taking the first two games by scores of 25-18, and 25-8, their first two set wins of the season.  But the Beavers came back and scored a pair of 25-20 wins to tie things up at 2-2.  Then, in a fifth and deciding match, CSI won 15-10, giving them the landmark win.

The win also avenged an earlier season, non-conference, 3-0, loss to the Beavers earlier this season for the Dolphins.

As of press time, statistics are not available but this information will be updated as information becomes available.  CSi is next in action on Monday, hosting St. Joseph’s College (BK) at 7pm at CSI.
