Mother Nature put a damper on last week’s College of Staten Island baseball schedule, but that didn’t stop Nick Delprete from putting up banner numbers in CSI’s three games last week, and as a result, the sophomore picked up CUNYAC Player of the Week honors.  The Dolphins went 1-2 in their abridged week, scoring their first conference win in the process.

Delprete started the week with a 2-3 performance against William Paterson University, tripling and scoring a run.  He also walked and stole a base in CSI’s 3-2 loss.  In CSI’s CUNYAC-opener against Baruch College, Delprete was a huge part of the offense, going 5-for-8 in the doubleheader with three RBI (all in CSI’s 8-3 win).  Delprete scored a run, added another triple, and was also perfect in the field, garnering four put outs and four assists.

So far this season, Delprete leads the squad with a .486 batting average (19-37), posting 18 hits, a team-leading 9 runs scored four doubles and three triples.  His seven RBI place second on the squad and his .757 slugging percentage in tops on the unit.

CSI returns to action on Tuesday, hosting nationally-ranked Kean University at 3:00pm at the CSI Baseball Complex for a single, nine-inning, affair.
