The College of Staten Island enjoyed a terrific 2014-15 campaign, and freshman Christina Pasaturo was at the center of it all, earning CUNYAC Rookie of the Year honors.  The guard added another feather to her cap yesterday, earning second-team all-star honors from the ECAC Division III Metro NY/NJ region.  Hunter College’s Kristen Markoe won Player of the Year honors, while Baruch head coach KellyAnn Barrett won Co-Coach of the Year.

Pasaturo had a stellar opening campaign for the Dolphins en route to their 17-12 season that ended with a semifinal appearance in the ECAC tourney.  Pasaturo averaged a team-best 15.0 points per game and was second on the squad with a 6.2 rebounds per game average, 65 three-point baskets, and 72 assists.  She placed third on the team with 46 steals and she led all Dolphins with six double-doubles.

One of the freshman’s finest performances came in the season opener, a win over the College of St. Elizabeth.  Pasaturo dumped in 21 points and 12 rebounds, giving everyone a good indication as to the type of lift she would bring to the young Dolphins’ squad.  She scored a career-high 29 points against Lehman College on January 9, a game in which she canned a career best five three-pointers.

Pasaturo joined two other CUNYAC players who made the ECAC Metro All-Star team.  Brooklyn College’s Megan Campbell and Baruch College’s Sheridan Taylor were the others.  Earlier in the week, men’s basketball star Frank Schettino earned an all-star citation as well, while teammate Will Fonseca was named the conference’s Player of the Year.
