The College of Staten Island women’s volleyball squad dropped their second straight contest tonight, falling to St. Joseph’s College (LI) as part of non-league play in Patchogue, NY, 3-0.  Individual scores were 25-8, 25-20, and 25-21.  With the loss, the Dolphins fell to 5-6 on the season, while the Golden Eagles lifted their overall mark to 8-8.

Trailing only 9-6 in the first set, the Eagles then completely seized momentum with a numbing 16-2 run to end the first set, powered by five Heather Ferchland kills.  In the second set, CSI was a lot crisper, and turned a deficit into a 16-15, but another healthy run by the Eagles seized the lead, and SJC never trailed again when winning the second set.  In the third set, CSI took a modest, 7-6, lead, but the Eagles weathered the storm and shot out to an 11-4 run to grab control.

CSI was led by Vanessa Reyes’ five kills and eight digs, while Siobhan Granich finished with four kills and Brittany Minondo finalized with 14 assists.  Ferchland led the way with 13 kills for SJC, followed by Courtney Bocchieri with 10 kills.  Jenna Beekman finished with 13 digs.

CSI’s season will continue on Friday, when they travel to face SUNY-Maritime as part of non-conference play, at 5pm.
