For the second straight week the College of Staten Island swim programs earned praise, this time garnering another pair of weekly citations.  CollegeSwimming.com awarded both Tim Sweeney and Naomi Gaggi as its Swimmers of the Week coming out of the CUNYAC, while the CUNYAC itself honored Sweeney with its Performer of the Week accolade.

The Dolphins had a lone meet last week, and although it was loss to Pace University, the team performed well, namely by way of Sweeney and Gaggi.  On the men’s side, the junior came up aces in both the 200-yard Freestyle (1:46.36) and the 200-yard Butterfly (1:55.49).  Later, Sweeney was a part of CSI’s second-place showing in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay.  He took the first leg at 22.66, as CSI scored a time of 1:34.39 as a team.

On the women’s ledger, Gaggi helped her squad place third in the 200-yard Medley Relay, and later Gaggi would take third place with a 28.89 run in the 50-yard Freestyle.  Gaggi ended her evening with the 100-yard Freestyle, coming in at 1:03.24, good for another third place finish.

This marks the second straight week that Sweeney has swept the awards.  The honor by Gaggi from CollegeSwimming.com is her first.

CSI is back in action on Friday, hosting Baruch College at the Sports & Recreation Center at 6:00pm.
