On the heels of their opening game of the 2016 season, the College of Staten Island men’s tennis team will go right back to work today, playing City College of New York in their CUNYAC opener at 3:00pm.  The match, originally scheduled for the National Tennis Center will now be played at Purchase College due to facility upgrades currently going on in Flushing.  CCNY comes into the match with a record of 1-2, and are looking for their first conference win.

Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins started their season yesterday against Purchase College at home.  Doing well for the Dolphins was Matthew Vesci, who won at both doubles and singles, the only Dolphins player to do so.  Also scoring a win at No. 6 singles was Mitchell Voloshin.
Players to Watch (CCNY):  Andrew Bregman has had a good into to the season as he has won two of his three matches near the bottom of the order.  Brian and Andrew Chen teamed up to score an impressive win at No. 3 Doubles in CCNY’s loss to John Jay last week, and they will look to keep the positive momentum going forward.
News and Notes: These two teams met twice last season as part of both regular season and postseason play.  The Dolphins defeated CCNY, 9-0, in regular season action and followed up with a 5-0 win over the Beavers as part of CUNYAC Quarterfinal play.  In fact, these two teams have met for the last two years in the Quarterfinal round.  CSI has won the last seven meetings in the series.  The last time CCNY took a win was back on April 25, 2010, when they defeated the Dolphins in Staten Island, 6-3.
