College of Staten Island Professor Tyehimba Jess recently gave a reading from his book Olio at Poets House in Manhattan.

Jess, an Associate Professor in the Department of English, is the author of two collections of poetry, most recently Olio (2016). He has been the recipient of a number of honors, among them the Whiting Writers’ Award and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Illinois Arts Council, and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center. His first book leadbelly (2005) was a 2004 National Poetry Series Winner.
