The Fall 2016 exhibition schedule for The Gallery of the College of Staten Island is as follows:
-First exhibition: can a line define?
This group exhibition will juxtapose artistic and journalistic approaches discussing the notion of the border. The exhibition also explores issues related to the recent migration crisis in Europe.
Participating artists include: Le Brothers, Terri Warpinski, Chat Travieso, David Molina Gadea, Dario Mitidieri, Matic Zorman, Matej Povse, Ignacio Evangelista
Monday, Sept. 19 to Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016
Opening reception: Wednesday, Sept.21, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a performance by the Le Brothers.
Panel discussion/artist talk: Thursday, Sept. 22 during Club Hours (3:00pm to 4:15pm) in the Gallery (Center for the Arts, Building 1P) with a poetry reading by Melanie Almeder. Other participants include: Le Brothers, Matt Bernico (PhD, Communication and Media Studies, European Graduate School, 2016; author of the catalog essay).
Other programming in connection with the exhibition will be announced.
-Second exhibition: Kat Chamberlin: Night Speech
This solo exhibition is a collection of works (sculpture, video, drawing) exploring encoded languages and alternative narratives that surface as a result of censorship and absence of reliable historic documentation.
