The College of Staten Island men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs will be jumping into their season in late-October and the team has finalized its list of meets for the 2016-17 season.  The swimming and diving season is the longest season of any of CSI’s sports, spanning both fall and spring semester, kicking off on October 25 and extending into mid-March with what the Dolphins hope will be a NCAA Division III National Championship appearance.

Before official competition gets underway, CSI will have an intrasquad meet on October 21 followed by their 2nd Annual Alumni Meet the next day on October 22.  That will usher in the competitive season that kicks off with a home meet against NCAA Division II Queens College at 6:00pm.  On Halloween, the CSI women will introduce the CUNYAC position of their season with another home affair against John Jay College, while the men will usher in their CUNYAC turn on the road at Brooklyn College on November 4.

After stops at Montclair State University and Baruch College, the Dolphins will participate for the first time ever at the two-day Drew University Ranger Invitational in Madison, NJ, on December 2-3.  From there, CSI will go on a three-meet homestand with Hunter College and Lehman College coming in for important conference tests.

The CUNYAC season finalizes the first week of February with the CUNYAC Championship Meet held at Lehman College.  That will springboard the Dolphins into what they hope will be extended postseason play at the Metropolitan Swimming and Diving Championships (Feb. 17-19), the ECAC Open Championships (Feb. 24-26), and, of course, the NCAA Division III Championship (March 17-19).

The CSI men are coming off of three-straight CUNYAC titles, coming off of a 5-4 regular season a year ago that featured a 4-0 run through CUNYAC.  The CSI women finished 4-7 a year ago but a solid 4-2 in conference play, finishing in third position at the Championship event a year ago.
