Please join us for the Dean’s Symposium on Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) Lecture Hall from 2:30pm to 4:00pm.

The topic will be “Unjust Schools” with speakers John (Jay) Arena, Associate Professor, Sociology and Anthropology; Valkiria Duran-Narucki, Lecturer, Psychology; and Michael Paris, Associate Professor, Political Science and Global Affairs.

The organization of schooling is marked by deep and nested inequalities. What is to be done? In this symposium, a sociologist examines the politics of charter school reforms in Newark, NJ; a psychologist explores the relationship between the quality of the schools’ physical environments and educational outcomes; and a political scientist revisits the issue of school desegregation and wonders whether it is really a lost cause.

Refreshments will be served at this CC CLUE event.
