Mother Nature has stalled the Dolphins’ softball schedule, but it hasn’t stopped College of Staten Island freshman Patricia Riches from staying active, as she took home ECAC Metro NY/NJ Rookie of the Week honors after a sensation run through Florida a week ago. The award comes on the heels of the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week citation she received on Tuesday.
The Dolphins went 5-3 a week ago in Florida, and Riches led all Dolphins with a blistering .600 batting average, .720 slugging percentage and a .655 on-base percentage. Riches hit safely in six of the eight games, which were all multi-hit games and she reached safely on base in seven of eight contests. Riches was 15-25 at the dish, spreading three doubles, four RBI and five runs scored throughout the week. She was also walked four times, good for second on the squad. Riches also boasted a .967 fielding percentage, committing a lone error in 30 chances.
The Dolphins are slated to get back to action this weekend, but could see those planned stalled. Updates to the CSI Softball schedule will be posted as they come in HERE.
