The CSI Baseball team will come into today’s doubleheader on the back of a close 3-2 win over Drew University last night for the 14th Annual Grace Hillery Breast Cancer Awareness Game.  The Dolphins will host Mt. St. Vincent College in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 5:00 pm at the CSI Baseball Complex this evening.

Players To Watch (CSI): Nick Meola continues to have a favorable season as he is second on the team with a .363 batting average, with 18 runs, two homeruns, and is tied for second with 15 RBIs. Meola has become nationally ranked as he sits 15th in the nation with 11 doubles and is first on the team with a slugging percentage of .575. Josh Mercado has started to become comfortable at the plate reaching fourth on the team with a .344 batting average, with 12 runs, 22 hits, two doubles and 13 RBIs. Pitcher Derek Jentz is second with a 1.61 ERA in 22.1 IP with 22 strikeouts and eight walks. 
Players To Watch (MSV): James Valenti is the team leader with a .298 batting average with 25 hits, 16 runs, five doubles, one triple and 16 RBIs. Zachary Saunders is right behind Valenti with a .286 average with 24 hits, four doubles and 13 RBIs. Kyle Tamburi is first on the team with two homeruns. Juan Brito is 0-2 in the 2017 season, but sits first among the pitchers with a 6.14 ERA in 22 IP with 16 strikeouts and 11 walks. Robert Negron paces the way for the pitching staff with 43 strikeouts.
News & Notes: Over the course of the past few games for Staten Island, pitching and hitting have become a major asset to their wins. Just missing the top ranking in team batting average, Staten Island has a .316 average compared to Mount St. Vincent’s .239. Pitching, Staten Island has 4.13 ERA and Mount St. Vincent has a 7.42. Staten Island is on a six-game win streak. Mount St. Vincent just broke their six game losing streak in a game two win over Mount Saint Mary’s College.
