Join us for a screening of the film Living Los Sures Film Screen and Q&A with the producer, Christopher Allen on Thursday, Apr. 27 in the Center for the Arts Screening Room (Building 1P, Room 223) 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
Living Los Sures is an expansive project about the Southside of Williamsburg, Brooklyn produced over five years by 60 artists at UnionDocs Center for Documentary Art. Known by its long-term Latino residents as Los Sures, the neighborhood was one of the poorest in New York City in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Today, it is the site of a battle between local identity and luxury lifestyle.
Christopher Allen is the founder and Executive Director of UnionDocs. Allen worked as a social entrepreneur, documentary director, and new media artist. His individual works and collaborative projects have been exhibited at MoMA, Harvard’s Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, the Volksbühne Theatre, DirektorenHaus in Berlin, Independent Film Week, and the Sonár, DIVA, and Conflux festivals, among many other venues.
