The College of Staten Island/Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences is hosting the Tenth Biennial Conference of the International Academy for Intercultural Research. The conference theme is “Applying Research to Improve Intercultural Relations.”
The Opening Ceremony is Sunday evening, June 25, with paper sessions, posters, and keynote and plenary speakers on Monday, June 26 through Thursday, June 29. Other conference activities include “themed lunch tables,” a book exhibit area, and an intercultural film festival.
Sessions focus on factors that enhance or impede cultural, ethnic, and race relations. Research has a particular emphasis on immigration and acculturation, but papers will also explore discrete populations such as business expatriates, students and teachers, and health care professionals.
Keynote presentations will focus on the prevention of genocide and on terrorists and de-radicalization processes.
