The College of Staten Island women’s volleyball team put an end to their three-game losing streak on Tuesday, pulling past Medgar Evers College on the road by a 3-1 count.  CSI won the first two matches 25-9, 25-10, but the Cougars bounced back with 27-25 win in the third set before CSI won set four, 25-16.  CSI is now 2-5 overall, while MEC slipped down to 0-9.

CSI was led by Caitlin Esposito’s eight kills, followed by Teresa Maresca’s six and Ashley Notaro’s four.  Jessica Cafiero was great behind the service line posting five aces, while Angelica Ramos had her best outing of the season on the back line, totaling 14 digs.  Vanessa Reyes also shined with 13 digs and a team-high 13 assists.

Medgar stayed strong in the back thanks to 21 digs from Kaina Bazard while getting six kills from team leader Melisa Wright.

The Dolphins are back in action on Thursday night, returning to CUNYAC play to take on Baruch College on the road at 6pm.
