Join us for a hands-on OER Adoption Workshop Training Workshop with Lumen Learning on Friday, Nov. 3  in the Library Learning Lab (Building 1L, Room 214) from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

This workshop is designed to prepare faculty to adopt Open Educational Resources (OER) as a means to reduce student textbooks costs as well as improve access and student success. It is designed to prepare faculty to adopt and adapt existing OER courses for use during the Spring 2018 semester. Following an opening presentation on OER and recent student impact research, participants will spend most of the day exploring subject-specific OER course content and related technologies designed to reduce barriers to OER adoption and improve student learning outcomes.

Support staff, such as librarians, instructional designers, and educational technologists are encouraged to attend and will be provided with resources to help them support faculty OER adoption.

You are welcome to come for one or more sessions–or the whole day:

(9:30am – 10:30am)  Improving access, affordability, and student success with Open Educational Resources

This section is perfect for Dept Chairs, Deans, and other administrators.

(10:30am – noon) Introduction to Lumen’s open course tools

(1:00pm – 3:00pm) Exploring and customizing OER courses

(2:00pm – 3:00pm, concurrent) Enabling and supporting adoption and impact

(3:15pm – 4:00pm) Final course preparation plans and sharing out
