It was a light week for the College of Staten Island women’s basketball team, but after a resounding win over visiting William Paterson, senior Samantha Flecker has earned Player of the Week honors from the City University of New York Athletic Conference. The Dolphins won for the fifth-straight time last week and Flecker was the leader in the charge, winning her second weekly honor in a row from the CUNYAC this season.
Flecker got off to a hot start against WPU and never let up, draining 10 field goals in 18 tries, adding a pair of free-throws in a 22-point, three-rebound performance. As a team the Dolphins were brilliant defensively, holding Paterson to 39% shooting and forcing 41 Pioneers turnovers. Flecker was once again a leader in the area, generating seven steals to lead all scorers.
Flecker places second on the squad this season with 14.1 points per game, and is also second on the unit in assists (28) and steals (33). Her 6.6 rebounds per game leads the squad.
The Dolphins will return to action on Wednesday, December 27, when they host New Jersey City University at The Tank at 5:30pm.
