The College of Staten Island had a successful week that was and have earned three CUNYAC weekly awards for their efforts.  Adeola Latunji earned CUNYAC Player of the Week on the men’s basketball hardwood while Alyssa Dunn and Ayman El Haddad dove their way to Diver of the Week honors in Women’s and Men’s Swimming & Diving.

Latunji paved the way to this weekly award by helping his team go 2-0 on the week and setting career-highs for himself, first with 25 points in a win at Medgar Evers College and then raising it to 27-points in the Dolphins’ very next game at Hunter College. In the pair of wins Latunji grabbed a total of 9 rebounds while also tallying four steals. Latunji is second on the team, averaging 14.9 points per game to go along with 5.5 rebounds per game. On games through January 14, Latunji is averaging the 9th most points in the CUNYAC.

Ayman El Haddad dazzled on the diving board against Sarah Lawrence, winning both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. In the one-meter, El Haddad scored a 237.97 points and then took gold again later in the meet with a score of 194.25 on the three-meter platform, helping CSI to a big win over the Gryphons.  On the women’s side, the Dolphins fell short against the Gryphons this past weekend, but Alyssa Dunn topped all with a performance of 170 points to win on the one-meter platform.

The CSI men’s basketball team is back in action on Wednesday, when they host Brooklyn College at the Sports & Recreation Center, while both the men’s and women’s swim teams will be back in the pool together on Saturday when they face St. Joseph’s College at home at 12 Noon.
