The Faculty Center for Professional Development is pleased to announce its calendar of events for the Spring 2018. This semester, the Center will host the second Student Success Institute, co-sponsored by Academic Affairs/Undergraduate Studies and Student Success. In this series of workshops, ten adjunct faculty fellows will work together to develop strategies to support students’ academic success and sense of belonging. The workshops are open to all faculty and staff members.
Both faculty interest groups (FIGs) that began last semester will continue: the CUNY Unlimited FIG, which focuses on implementing Universal Design for Learning strategies to support all students’ learning, and the Diverse Faculty Interest Group. A new FIG, focused on privilege and teaching about privilege, will hold its first meeting on Monday, Mar. 12.
On Friday, Mar. 2, the Faculty Senate Research Committee and the Faculty Center for Professional Development will offer “Everybody Writes!” a half-day publications workshop. During this event, faculty members will have the opportunity to work on publications in process, get feedback from colleagues, and learn from colleagues who have served as editors on academic journals.
Please see the online calendar for the complete list of events. More details about each event will follow. If you have an idea for an event, please contact me.
