The College of Staten Island men’s volleyball team recently broke their three-game skid and will look to stay strong as they host Baruch College in continued CUNYAC play this evening at The Tank at 6pm.  Baruch is coming in with a head of steam. boasting an unblemished 3-0 record within the CUNYAC.

Players to Watch (CSI): Christian Dumadag has the hot hand for CSI.  He put up a CSI season-high and a career-high 19 kills in a 3-0 win over St. Joseph’s College (BK).  Dumadag is the clear leader in the team with 71 kills and a .130 attack percentage.  He is also the CSI team leader with 10 aces this season.  Following Dumadag is junior Mark Palencia, who has tallied 42 kills this season along with nine aces.  Defensively the Dolphins will look for senior Ronald Tisbe to hold things together on the back line and to provide sound passing.  Tisbe has 28 digs this year.  The leader in the back is Zebin Guo with 56 digs.  Adil El Haddad joined teh Dolphins late but has done a sound job setting, and leads the squad with 111 assists.
Players to Watch (BAR):  The Bearcats have a great one-two punch in Stephen Roach and Nicholas Godino.  Roach leads all with 110 kills and 314 attacks, adding a team-best 14 service aces while placing third on the team with 69 digs.  Right behind him offensively is Godino with 109 kills on 298 attacks.  He is second on the team on the defensive side with 71 digs.  The defensive leader is Kyriakos Semetzidis who leads all with 90 digs.  Look for Meni Musheyev to be a force up front.  He leads the Bearcats with 19 total blocks this season.
News & Notes: CSI has never taken a set off of Baruch, so they will look to make history tonight should they do it tonight.  Overall, Baruch leads the series, 7-0, a mark that includes a 3-0 record in Staten Island.  Six of the seven meetings have taken place in the regular season, while the two teams did meet during the 2016 playoffs as well, a 3-0 Baruch win in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals.  So far, the teams only share one common opponent in CCNY.  Baruch beat the Beavers, 3-0, by scores of 25-16, 25-15, & 25-21, while CSI fell to CCNY by a 3-1 final.
