The sweeping rains that have hit the tri-state area have been enough to derail the schedule yet again, and this time it has knocked out one of the highlights of the CSI baseball season, the 15th Annual Grace Hillery Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Previously scheduled for April 17, but washed out, Today’s scheduled game was slated to be played against Drew University at 7pm, on an evening that raised funds and awareness for Breast Cancer research. Drew University has worked diligently with the College on this date but alas, given the schedules of each team and the postseason looming, the teams will table the evening a calendar year and have opted to cancel the event.
“We are very disappointed,” said Head Coach Michael Mauro, who helps area families dealing with the disease with proceeds raised through raffles and concessions. “This is an event that means a great deal to us but the weather simply hasn’t cooperated with us all year long. Our goal now will be to support the families we were hoping to honor behind the scenes. We will support them, as they have supported us.”
For now, CSI will be targeting the weekend to get back to action. They travel to face Lehman College on Saturday at 12 Noon for a doubleheader and will follow with a home doubleheader against Yeshiva on Sunday, also at 12 Noon.
