Tarrytown, NY |  The College of of Staten Island men’s and women’s basketball programs continue to make headlines into April, this time by way of citations from Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.  At tonight’s Haggerty Dinner, the organization will honor a pair of CSI standouts in senior Christina Pasaturo and Christian Taylor.  It is the second year in a row that Pasaturo will be honored on the first-team in the women’s division, while Taylor, a sophomore, will earn his first trip, being named to the second-team.

No one in the CUNYAC women’s division has been more decorated than Pasaturo, who took home Preseason and Postseason Player of the Year honors from the conference fresh off of another spectacular season that saw her eclipse 2,000 career points.  Along the way, Pasaturo broke the conference’s three-point shooting record, and the four-time CUNYAC Player of the Week was D3hoops,com Preseason All-American as well as a CUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honorable Mention.  She finished the year averaging a career-best 22.7 points per game, collecting a team high 90 steals, 117 assists, and 95 three-point baskets.  She also finished second on the team, averaging 6.6 rebounds per game.

Taylor erupted from a reserve role his freshman year to taking over the controls in his sophomore effort en route to another CUNYAC Championship, which came with it, Postseason Tournament MVP honors.  Taylor averaged 17.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, also leading the way with 107 assists and a team-best 56% field-goal percentage.  He registered his first career triple-double to kick off the CUNYAC Postseason against Brooklyn College and finished with four double-doubles in his last six games, a run that included a career-best 38 points against Cabrini University in the first-round of the NCAA Postseason Tournament.  Taylor was also named a CUNYAC first-team all-star.

All of the men’s and women’s honorees will be showcased at the MBWA’s Haggerty Dinner in Tarrytown tonight at the Westchester Marriott.  The dinner spotlights all first and second team all-stars spanning all three NCAA Divisions.
