I am delighted to announce that, following an extensive national search, Dr. Tara Mastrorilli has accepted the permanent position of Director of the Office of Institutional Research. As most know, Tara has been serving as Interim Director since July 2017.  Her permanent position will become effective on Sunday, July 1, 2018, pending approval by the Board of Trustees.

Since joining the Office of Institutional Research at CSI in 2015, Tara has worked with College leadership, staff, and faculty in collecting, analyzing, and disseminating institutional and survey data to support data-informed decision-making and planning across the College. In particular, she has played a key role in the Frontier Set initiative focusing on student success, monitoring key indicators and developing predictive analytics. In her leadership of OIR, she has been committed to sharing data and communicating findings widely across administrative and academic offices.

From 2008 to 2015, Tara served as Senior Research Associate at Metis Associates, an evaluation and research consulting firm based in New York City. Previously, she had held positions in CUNY–at both John Jay College of Criminal Justice (2007-2008) and Baruch College (2006-2007).  She received her BA in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Delaware, and her MA and PhD in Educational Psychology from The Graduate Center, CUNY. She has made numerous presentations at professional conferences and has recently been elected as Chair of the CUNY Institutional Research Council.

In making this announcement, I want also to express sincere appreciation to the members of the search committee who worked hard and effectively to ensure the success of this search: Soon Chun (Chair), Angelo Bongiorno, Shannon Cammarano, Kristen Gillespie-Lynch, Carlo Lancellotti, and Sasha Spence.

I know you all join me in congratulating Tara Mastrorilli and wishing her well in this important position for the College.
