During the weekend, a handful of CSI email accounts were compromised. The compromised accounts began sending out large quantities of email. All of these email messages (more than 300,000) began to fill up and clog the Exchange mechanism, which sends out the email. In order to remedy the situation, all queues had to be purged. As a result, any email which you sent beginning Friday from 10:00pm to today (Sunday) at 3:00pm will have to be resent. You may be able to find some of your sent messages in your Sent folder in order to easily resend. Incoming email was not affected and reached your Inbox.
Technology Systems will contact the owners of the compromised accounts on Monday to discuss next steps.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused but the steps taken were necessary in order to quickly re-establish the integrity of our email server.
