Flushing, NY | The College of Staten Island women’s tennis team saw their run towards a CUNYAC title end in the CUNYAC Quarterfinal round, as the Dolphins fell hard to No. 3 Hunter College, 5-0, at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows this afternoon. The Dolphins, who will have a modified spring season, finalized their fall campaign at 3-7, while Hunter improved to 8-3.
In the tournament format, the first team that records five points is deemed the winner and the rest of play is suspended. With a 5-0 win, four flights remained unfinished.

In the top spot, the team of Maria Kogarova and Luisa Sujan were able to get by CSI’s team of Hannah Bruschi and Katherine Villarroel, 8-3. Hunter was able to skate by in the other two flights. at No. 2, Monika Zaboklicki and Yana Rabkova powered through Mariah Deguia and Lisa-Marie Perez-Melo, 8-1, and at No. 3, Liliko Chung and Elaine Zhang scored an 8-0 win over Guetanie Romain and Lorianna Fernandez.
Hunter got the clinching wins at Nos. 5-6 Singles. In the fifth flight, Chung was a 6-0, 6-0, winner over Fernandez, while at No. 6, Catherine Ng was a same-score winner over Perez-Melo.
