Players to Watch (CSI): After the first third of the season, sophomore Megan McEwan continues to lead the way with 14.4 points per game, pacing the team with 13 three-pointers, 24 assists, and 24 steals as well for the team lead.  The team rebounding leader is interior threat Diana Todaro, who is averaging 7.3 per and is second on the squad with 11.6 points per game on a respectable 44.6% shooting.  Freshman Kayla Schmitter has made a single start this season and is averaging 10.4 points per contest with 6.1 rebounds.  She also leads the team with nine blocked shots.  Jacquelyn Cali is improving on her numbers and is now averaging 7.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in over 25 minutes on the court so far this season.
Players to Watch (CNR): The Blue Angels are getting a healthy contribution from Dar’Neisha Brice, who is averaging an even 13 points per contest so far with nine three-pointers.  Ashley Martin is next in line with an even eight points per game average, while Aaliyah Fields is boasting 7.4 points per contest.  The trio accounts for over half of CNR’s scoring this season.  Martin is also a huge contributor on the glass as she is recording 11.1 rebounds per game, a mark that includes a team-best 28 offensive rebounds in total.  Look for Melissa Perez to be a big X-factor, as she is tied for second on the squad with eight three-pointers and CSI will have to try to not let her get warm from beyond the arc.
News & Notes: After losing the first-ever meeting in the series back in 1985, CSI has taken the last five meetings against the College of New Rochelle.  The two teams met last year in what amounted to a big win for the Dolphins early in the season, 94-52.  You would have to go back to 2012 for the last meeting that occurred at New Rochelle, a 67-36 CSI win.  In fact, in CSI’s last five wins over New Rochelle, their average margin of victory has been a huge 53.8 points, making CNR a marked underdog in this tilt tonight.  The Angels are looking for their first win at home this season as they are currently 0-3 on their home floor.  CNR was 5-6 at home last year.  For the Dolphins, they have been a solid 3-1 this year on the road, having won their last two against CCNY (74-53) and Medgar Evers (67-34).  Both teams share one common opponent so far in John Jay College.  CSI defeated John Jay, 83-58, while the Angels fell to the Bloodhounds, 66-63.  Today’s game is the second of a four-game road swing for the Dolphins, as they will not return home until December 30.
