The College of Staten Island women’s basketball team returns to CUNYAC play tonight against Medgar Evers College. The game will mark the third CUNYAC game in their last five outings, a stretch in which the Dolphins have gone 4-1.

Players to Watch (CSI): Christina Pasaturo and Samantha Flecker have been on fire lately, averaging 21+ points per game each. On the year, Pasaturo is averaging 24 points per game while Flecker is adding 15 a game. Pasaturo’s 24 points per game place her fifth in the nation. On the boards, Flecker has been solid for the Dolphins, grabbing 7.2 per game, a team-high, with over half of them being offensive. Victoria Crea had a good game last Sunday when she scored 12 points on 56% from the floor while adding three assists and two steals. Crea will lead the charge for the Dolphins and will drive to the basket when she sees an opening.
Players to Watch (MEC): Cyndi Whyte paces the Cougars with 10 points per game on 29% shooting from the floor. Whyte is effective on the glass as well, pulling down a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game. Destiny Simmons is the three-point specialist for Medgar Evers, converting 27% of her chances from behind the arc. Simmons also directs traffic and dishes the ball to her teammates in open positions to the tune of 2 assists per game.
News & Notes: The Dolphins head to take on Medgar Evers with a three-game win streak while the Cougars are currently on a 24-game losing skid which dates back to last year when they defeated John Jay. Staten Island currently holds a 21-game win streak over the Cougars which goes back to the 2007 season. In the last five meetings, the Dolphins have held the Cougars to just 45 points per game while scoring 82 of their own. Staten Island’s fast-paced defense will be on display tonight as they force 30 turnovers a game which is the fourth best in the nation. Staten Island as a team is pouring in 79 points per game which places them in the top-15 for points per game.
