After a perfect week on the court the College of Staten Island men’s and women’s basketball teams are celebrating with a pair of weekly honors given to them by the City University of New York Athletic Conference.  Junior Diana Todaro was awarded CUNYAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after a pair of wins by her team, while freshman Andrew Kartalis earned his second Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week citation after CSI’s lone win this past week.

Todaro was stellar in two games last week, both wins as CSI has now won five-straight.  First against New Rochelle on the road, she garnered 12 points and a season-high 17 rebounds in the 80-53 win.  She was also second on the team with five assists in the game.  This past weekend on the road against Lancaster Bible College, Todaro put up another double-double with 14 points and an even 10 rebounds, leading the team to the 59-40 win.  For the season, she is now second on the team in scoring with 11.9 points per game while leading the unit with 8.5 rebounds per contest.  She is also tied for second on the team with 27 assists.

Kartalis, meanwhile, came off of the bench to claim 10 points and a pair of rebounds and a game-high 4 steals in a 66-65 win over Kean last week. He led all bench players with 23 minutes played.  For the season Kartalis is averaging 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest.  For the Dolphins, the win over Kean was their first in back-to-back fashion this season.

The CSI women’s basketball team will be back in action on Friday night when they travel to face NCAA Division I counterpart Wagner College, while the men will resume deeper into December with the 17th annual Tournament of Heroes.  They open up against Bates College on Friday, December 28, at 7:30pm.
