The College of Staten Island softball team scored a pair of huge wins yesterday afternoon against York College, and will turn around and play again today for another pair of CUNYAC tests when they face Baruch College at Randall’s Island. The game times have been moved up to 11:00am, to compensate for the potential of a rain delay.

Players to Watch (CSI): After scattering 39 runs on 38 hits yesterday the Dolphins have elevated their hitting numbs coming into the game. Team-leader Patricia Riches is now batting .610, with our doubles and three triples as well. Sierra Kaplanek is now at .447 with a team-best six doubles, and continues to lead CSI with 13 RBI. Antoinette Galbo is next in line at .316 with eight RBI. CSI also saw the return of a pair of players from injury. Pitcher Alison Meagher tossed five shutout innings for her first win of the season yesterday, and Julianna Cretella batted 3-6 with four runs scored yesterday against York. Look for them to build on those performances.
Players to Watch (BC): Baruch has played only two games this season but they scored a couple of big wins and are looking to stay hot. Kaitlyn Rivera is batting .714 (5-7) with seven RBI, and both Danielle Petrunti and Gabrielle Hunzo are hitting .667 (4-6) and Petrunti is tied for tops on the team with five runs scored. Look for Victoria Kisling to do the pitching as she has tossed all 12 innings for Baruch so far and is 2-0 with a 4.08 ERA. She has also fanned 15 batters which walking only one.
News & Notes: Today’s games will be the 55th and 56th in series history between the two sides and they have been meeting since 2000. CSI has had the much better of it, sporting a record of 47-7 all-time against the Bearcats and the Dolphins have won 12 in a row in the series. The last time Baruch took a game from CSI was back in 2013, a 3-2 game in which Baruch hosted. CSI is 12-4 all-time against Baruch on the road. Both teams share a common opponent this season in York College. Baruch defeated York twice, 6-3 and 25-8 on Tuesday of last week which CSI defeated York yesterday, 20-0, and 19-3. After today, CSI will next play on Thursday when they travel to William Paterson University before another weekend set next weekend against Hunter College on Saturday and Brooklyn College on Sunday.
