Patchogue, NY | In their spring semester debut, the College of Staten Island women’s tennis dropped an 8-1 decision to St. Joseph’s College of Long Island in a match that was made up from a previous rainout.
The powerful Golden Eagles got off to a great start in Doubles, scoring a pair of 8-0 wins at the Nos. 1-2 positions. In the top spot, Victoria Panicola and Taylor Hanscom did the job against Tristiana Adragna and Hannah Bruschi and in spot No. 2, Amanda Post and Nora Burnett were able to skate by Guetanie Romain and Lorianna Fernandez.
CSI put up a stronger fight at No. 3, but the Eagles were able to weather the test, winning 8-3 with the duo of Erin Hickey and Alana Caporale took the win over Mariah DeGuia and Iris Cule.
In Singles play, CSI was able to get their lone win in the No. 5 position, as Fernandez scored a very impressive, 8-7 (10-7) win over Lindsey Charrier. In a tough first flight, Adragna was downed by Post, 8-7.
CSI will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they face Molloy College at 3:30pm at the CSI Tennis Center.
